Social Support Group is an activity group held on Mondays at the Finnish Hall in Altona. Activities include:
Exercises for body and mind: chair based exercise, card games, puzzles, billiards, carpet bowls, etc.
Computer access and tuition
Good company and a light meal
On the first Monday of each month “Aivoriihi” or Brainstorming meets for a main meal, cheerful company, entertainment, information sessions on a variety of interesting topics and the occasional outing.
Regular trips around Victoria
Friendly visiting service
Finnish-speaking volunteers are available to provide companionship to isolated elderly people or people with disabilities who are living in their own homes.
Volunteers can also provide some assistance with transport and attendance at community activities, e.g. attending functions at the Finnish Hall.
Information and Support in Finnish to access community and government services e.g. Local Government and community care services, Community Aged Care Packages, allied health, equipment, respite and carer support services, etc.
